What history exists in your neighborhood? Mapping History helps you explore your local environment or browse the country for the history behind some of Americas most significant landmarks.

Mapping History now features two curated maps with thousands of pins.
• The Engineering Map of America highlights the most significant engineering feats across the United States. Learn more about the major building projects that have transformed cities and towns across the country, and in turn have transformed the way we live and work.
• The Abolitionist Map of America features sites central to the abolitionist movement in the United States.

KEY FEATURES
→Find the most significant locations, read about their roles in history, and compare archival images with how the sites look today.
→ Explore the maps, pinned with hundreds of videos and archival images from museums, institutions and users from across North America related to engineering landmarks and the abolitionist movement.
→ Dig deeper with curated collections of archival images, documents and other materials related to engineering topics.
→ Take curated walking tours in cities key to the American abolitionist movement.

The app updates daily as new pins are added by American Experience, our partners, and the public. You may submit your own content to the Engineering Map of America at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/interactive-map/penn-engineering/
